Toad Defence

Toad Defence: cartoon toads defending their burrow from predators

Toad Defence: protecting the Hibernaculum

Toad Defence is a goofy, educational tower defence game for Android. A colony of toads has dug in for the winter at the Hibernaculum, their underground burrow, and a steady parade of hungry predators wants in. Your job is to build towers along the path and keep every last toad safe until spring.

Real biology, really silly

Every tower and predator is based on real toad biology. Towers like the Sticky Tongue Turret, Parotoid Artillery and Spadefoot Pit-Launcher are inspired by things real toads actually do. The waves are made up of real toad predators, from garter snakes and great blue herons to diving beetles, giant water bugs and the alligator snapping turtle (plus the occasional boss, like the Raccoon King).

Along the way, a cast of toads shares tips, predator briefings and science facts: Captain Croak, Sergeant Spadefoot, Bufo, Professor Wartsworth, Cousin Frog and Spud, whose main lesson is simple: never lick a toad.

Made for kids, fair for everyone

The game is made for players of all ages, including children, so it collects no personal information. There are no accounts and no chat, and progress is saved only on the device.
